Taste of Matsalu

At Altmõisa, we believe that food is not just fuel – it’s part of the experience. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet breakfast before a day of birdwatching or gathering around the table for a warm evening meal, our kitchen invites you to slow down and savor.

We serve buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner and a variety of snacks, with generous options to suit every appetite and dietary need. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free or other special diets are always welcome – just let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure your meal is both safe and delicious.

Our culinary philosophy is simple: local, seasonal, and homemade. That’s why most of what we serve is made in our kitchen from scratch. You’ll taste it in our traditional Estonian black bread, fluffy white bread, fresh muesli, cakes, jams, and even our own homemade juice. We grow herbs, berries, and vegetables in our garden, and collect eggs from our happy free-range hens just outside the window.

What we don’t produce ourselves, we source from nearby small-scale farmers, local fishermen, and trusted regional producers. This close cooperation ensures not only the highest quality ingredients, but also supports the rural economy and preserves local food traditions.

Seasonal flavors guide our menus – spring greens, summer berries, autumn apples, and comforting winter dishes. Whether you’re here for one meal or staying for a retreat, our table reflects the natural rhythm of Matsalu.
